Maria grew up in Hialeah, the daughter of Cuban immigrants who taught her that hard work and community come first. After putting herself through Miami Dade College and FIU, she built a small accounting firm that now employs 14 neighbors. She's served on the school advisory council, the chamber of commerce board, and her church's outreach committee.
She's running for Congress because Washington has forgotten about families like the ones she grew up with — and she's done waiting for someone else to fix it.
